Late Show host Stephen Colbert’s fund donated $4,000 to Doylestown’s Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theater Education Center.
Late night talk show host Stephen Colbert is donating a slice of the proceeds from his Ben & Jerry ice cream “Americone Dream” to help support The Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theater Education Center in Doylestown Township.
“Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream Fund” selected the Hammerstein organization as a beneficiary of some of the profits from sales of the ice cream, according to Keith Fenimore, president of The Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theatre Education Center.
The $4,000 donation came from Colbert’s nonprofit entity called Coastal Community Foundation and The Stephen Colbert AmeriCone Dream Fund. AmeriCone Dream is a Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and a caramel swirl.
Colbert and his Late Show staff nominate nonprofit organizations as recipients of the pint proceeds. “The fund supports charities of concern to Stephen,” according to the Ben & Jerry’s page that features the flavor.
“To be recognized in such a tasty way by the #1 late night talk show in the country and one of the most iconic ice cream brands in the world is an honor,” said Fenimore.

Fenimore said the donation on behalf of the AmeriCone Dream Fund is fitting for the museum.
“Throughout his life, Oscar mentored so many, including a young Stephen Sondheim, ultimately helping him live his American Dream,” he said. “This generous donation helps us get that much closer to saving Oscar’s home.”
In an effort to protect Oscar’s legacy, the nonprofit Oscar Hammerstein Museum & Theatre Education Center was created to save Oscar Hammerstein’s home. A developer has obtained approval to subdivide Highland Farm into residential lots. The center is raising funds to purchase, restore, and preserve Oscars Hammerstein’s former home and workplace, Fenimore said.
Plans for The Hammerstein Museum including opening an educational museum “with a strong theater education component that will serve as a place of inspiration for Broadway fans and humanitarians alike, from Hammerstein’s backyard and throughout the globe,” Fenimore said.
“Our goal is to preserve the property so people can experience the special place where the modern musical was spawned, Highland Farm.”
Our new video beautifully done by @allsystemsgoav! Oscar's home is not a guaranteed preserved historic site and there are developers who see more value in tearing it down. Please visit our website (in our profile)… https://t.co/nRcf6wS8Ry
