Ice cream for breakfast? Hudsonville announces 2 special flavors - MLive.com

HOLLAND, MI -- Hudsonville Ice Cream is rolling out two new ice cream flavors just in time for Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day.

In honor of the day, Hudsonville Ice Cream will sell two limited edition flavors - Crispy Cocoa Cereal and Peanut Butter and Jelly. The Holland-based company announced the two flavors Monday.

The “holiday” is celebrated on the first Saturday in February, which is Feb. 1 this year.

The Crispy Cocoa Cereal is made with a brown butter ice cream and fudge ripples along with chocolate covered rice cereal.

The Peanut Butter and Jelly flavor is peanut butter ice cream with strawberry jam swirl and pieces of peanut brittle.

“Every year our team comes up with new and creative flavors as part of our Limited Edition lineup, available for a short time only," said Rachel Hamden, Marketing Manager at Hudsonville Ice Cream.

“This year’s two new flavors were inspired by memories from our childhood, whether it’s a bowl of chocolatey cereal on a Saturday morning, or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich packed by mom for a school lunch.”

As part of its roll out, Hudsonville is hosting a giveaway on its Facebook page from Jan. 21-24. The giveaway is for a carton of each special flavor, an ice cream bowl and spoon, and a cartoons DVD.

“It’s tapping into a sense of nostalgia we all have for when we were young,” Hamden said.

In order to enter, people will have to comment on a post that will be added to the Facebook page. There will also be a question asking them to share their favorite cartoon as a kid.

You can find a coupon for the new ice cream flavors on Hudsonville’s website.

Hudsonville Ice Cream is based in Holland, Michigan and has been in business since 1926.

The limited edition flavors are available now and throughout January, but once they’re gone, they’re gone for the season.
