Yes, dog ice cream is a real thing and it’s made in CNY - Syracuse.com

SHERBURNE, N.Y. - One Central New York ice cream maker is taking the dog treat game to a whole new level.

Gilligan’s Ice Cream, the Sherburne-based ice cream makers who pioneered the first legal beer and hard cider ice cream in New York and whose Inferno ice cream is so spicy that you need to sign a waiver before eating it, has introduced Peanut Butter Canine Crunch.

This doggie delicacy includes vanilla ice cream mixed with peanut butter and Milk-Bone dog biscuits.

A pint of Gilligan's Peanut Butter Canine Crunch gets the seal of approval from Cricket. Gemma, Cricket and Mindy are all available for adoption at the Chenango SPCA.

The pints go on sale Friday and will be available until Dec. 7 as part of a fundraiser benefiting the Chenango SPCA. Each pint is $7, with $3 from each pint going to the Chenango SPCA.

“Gilligan’s Ice Cream is happy to collaborate with the Chenango SPCA on this unique fundraiser and hopes in addition to raising money for the SPCA, it will bring more awareness and hopefully more adoptions of their dogs and cats," Andy Lagoe, partner at Gilligan’s Ice Cream, said in a statement.

Ice cream can be ordered online at chenangospca.org or by phone at (607) 334-9724 ext. 2. The ordered pints will be available for pickup at the Chenango SPCA, 6160 County Road 32, Norwich, on Dec. 17.

Don’t worry, there will be ice cream for humans too. Pints of black raspberry, cookie dough, peanut butter cup, mint chocolate chip and cotton candy ice cream will also be available.
