The Original Cream Puffs, Wisconsin's most beloved dessert, is petitioning the public to help change the date of "National Cream Puff Day" from January 2nd to July 22nd. Supporters of the new date will also have a chance to win free cream puffs at the 2020 Wisconsin State Fair.
"As the experts in 'all things cream puffs,' we think it makes more sense to celebrate this annual food holiday as we serve our first official cream puffs of the year," said Tim Gill, co-director of The Original Cream Puffs. The Original Cream Puffs are only sold during an 11-day run at The Wisconsin State Fair and have become the true taste of summer. With an estimated 400,000 cream puffs sold each year, the Original Cream Puffs are the signature dessert item at the Fair.
This year, July 22nd will fall on the 5th annual Cream Puff 5K, an event that marks the official kick-off to the Wisconsin State Fair, where participants run (or walk) their way to the first cream puffs of the year. "The 5K is the first opportunity to taste a cream puff heading into the Fair and this will be the 5th annual event – the perfect occasion to declare the new date of "National Cream Puff Day," said Gill. "In the years to come, July 22nd will mark the official start of Cream Puff season."
Join The Wisconsin State Fair, The Original Cream Puff team and Cravin' D. Cream Puff in its efforts to celebrate "National Cream Puff Day" on July 22nd by signing the petition here.
When the petition gathers 1,000 signatures, The Original Cream Puffs team will give away 10 vouchers for a free six-pack of cream puffs at the 2020 Wisconsin State Fair. The ten winners will be chosen at random from the petition and notified via e-mail before the Fair.
