NEW CANAAN, CT — Jordan and Dina Savitt, owners of the new Gofer Ice Cream shop scheduled to open in New Canaan early this spring, released the following information about their new store, the sixth Gofer Ice Cream in the area.
The new shop is taking over the space where Baskin Robbins was located on Main Street in New Canaan for more than 25 years:
Today Gofer Ice Cream announced it will expand its Fairfield County footprint with a new location at 103 Main Street, New Canaan, Connecticut. This will be the sixth area Gofer Ice Cream shop.
A lease was recently signed for the new location and the anticipated opening date is early Spring, 2020. The new Gofer location will be owned and operated by existing successful Franchisees, Jordan and Dina Savitt. This will mark the third area location for the Savitt's. They also own and operate the Wilton shop, opened in 2017, and they purchased the Darien location in 2016. Gofer Ice Cream has operated in Darien since 2004.
"My wife and I are overly excited to bring Gofer Ice Cream to the hallowed ground where Baskin Robbins was located for so many years. We hope the community will enjoy our ice cream of more than 40 different flavors, our famous Razzle and many other wonderful products that Gofer has to offer." Mr. Savitt said
"All involved are excited to bring the Gofer Ice Cream brand to this family friendly community." Said Jay Ragusa, Founder of Gofer Ice Cream and CEO of Gofer Franchise Systems LLC. "Since we opened in Greenwich in 2003, I would say without a doubt New Canaan has been the town most requested by our customers for expansion. We have always considered the idea, but now the stars have aligned and it is a go. The location chosen has some great history and Gofer Ice Cream is up to the challenge of keeping existing traditions as well as creating new memories."
Separately, Gofer Ice Cream recently announced the formation of Franchise Systems LLC, to expand and grow the franchise both outside Fairfield County, deeper into Connecticut and beyond the State in 2020. "We are certainly off to a good start with this, the third Franchised location. We appreciate the Savitt Family and their belief in the Gofer Ice Cream Brand. I feel they will be rewarded for being here at the start." Remarked Mr. Ragusa.
Gofer Ice Cream has been serving the Fairfield County community for over seventeen seasons and has become a local favorite for many. New Canaan's launch will help to increase the footprint in Lower Fairfield County. The current shops are located in Greenwich, Stamford, Darien, Wilton and seasonally in Cos Cob, Connecticut.
Original story: Gofer Ice Cream, which has shops in Greenwich and Darien among other Connecticut locations, is planning to open a new shop in New Canaan in the space recently vacated by Baskin Robbins on Main Street, writes the New Canaan Advertiser.
The new Gofer store is slated to open on April 1; the shop's owners recently signed a five-year lease agreement at the site, with an option for another five years.
The Baskin Robbins closed on Dec. 28, after nearly 30 years at the location, when owner Anna Valente-Krolikowski decided to retire.
