Starbucks adds Irish Cream Cold Brew to its packed holiday menu - New York Post

Starbucks is banking on a little luck of the Irish.

Irish Cream Cold Brew — $4.45 to $4.75, depending on location — is available for a limited time starting Tuesday at participating locations nationwide.

The latest in the coffee giant’s long line of themed drinks features Irish cream-flavored syrup over iced cold brew, fluffed up with vanilla sweet-cream foam and sprinkled with cocoa powder.

“It pairs so well with cold brew because of the chocolate flavor in the Irish cream and the cocoa notes from the coffee,” Starbucks product developer Erin Marinan says in a blog post. “I think about that customer who’s in the middle of work or shopping, and this will help get them into the holiday spirit for the rest of the day.”

Don’t get too excited, tipplers. Although traditional Irish cream is spiked with whiskey, this family-friendly java chain’s new incarnation is strictly non-alcoholic.

Cold coffee continues to be a hot trend — even in the chilly winter months. The iced lineup accounts for more than half of Starbucks’ US beverage sales, the company reports.

Specialty holiday drinks (available since Nov. 7) in hot, cold and blended Frapp iterations — include Eggnog, Peppermint Mocha, Toasted White Chocolate, Caramel Brulee Latte and Chestnut Praline Latte.

“Cold foam has been key for us from the innovation side of product development,” Marinan hypes. “It highlights our coffee craft with a great creamy texture and those beautiful layers. It’s adding a little bit of flavor in a way that’s unique to Starbucks.”

In August, Starbucks revamped its insanely popular Pumpkin Spice Latte — which rocked the world 16 years ago — with the fall-flavored Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew.

The drink combines its vanilla-flavored cold brew with a thick layer of frothy pumpkin-flavored cold foam — the signature Starbucks invention of cold whipped milk, as opposed to hot steamed foam — and topped with a dusting of pumpkin spice.

Another recent specialty drink included the Ariana Grande-endorsed Cloud Macchiato, which sparked controversy earlier this year over erroneous claims that it was “vegan.”
