I’ve been on a foundation adventure recently—trying everything from powders and vegan formulations to spray can versions. I’ve found some really great ones, and learned a lot about my skin and my undertones. And when I’m not wearing foundation, I rely on my tinted moisturizers to keep me looking fresh-faced.
So when someone suggested I try a CC cream, I didn’t exactly jump at the chance. What kind of coverage could a CC cream really offer in comparison to a foundation? Plus, BB and CC creams went out of trend with charcoal tooth whitening and unicorn makeup. I hadn’t thought about them in a couple of years as I explored new innovations in the beauty space.
But being the beauty lover and try-anything I am, I eventually gave it a go with Thrive Causmetics Buildable Blur CC Cream. And I’m so happy I did.
This rich color correcting cream gives the coverage that I need without feeling heavy. I might not be looking to hide wrinkles, but hyperpigmentation is still a beauty woe for me, and this CC cream covers up those imperfections with one layer. It also contains SPF 35 so if I forget my daily application of sunscreen, this CC’s got me.
In a recent conversation with Dr. Wendy E. Roberts, Board Certified Physician, Dermatologist, and Dermatopathologist, she assured me that CC creams are indeed still effective. They’ve been known for calming skin while cloaking imperfections. And where BB cream is too sheer to wear sans foundation if you want a flawless look, CC cream is the answer to that.
At $38 Buildable Blur is almost the same price as your favorite foundation, so it’s nice that it delivers like one. I got back my glowy kissed by the sun look from the summer, I don’t have to apply concealer, and it makes my morning makeup routine quick and easy. And my skin looks like skin, not unsustainable perfection.
It’s highly transferrable, so I do have to be careful about touching my face, and rubbing my face against scarves and collars. An alternative for the non-lazy beauty lover is setting it with powder to keep transfer to a minimum. That’s simply not the life that I lead. But for the coverage and ease of use that it gives me, I’ll gladly watch where I’m putting my hands and clothes.
