Among the featured performers in the Minnesota Ballet’s Celebrity Dance Challenge: an ice cream slinger, a race car driver, an evening anchor for the local NBC affiliate.
The annual fundraiser pairs pros from the local company with well-known locals and eclectic styles of dance. This year’s event is at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Marshall School’s Fregeau Auditorium, 1215 Rice Lake Road. Tickets are $30 for general seating, $35 for reserved, available at 218-529-3742, minnesotaballet.org or at the door.
The dancers compete for audience and judges’ choice awards, in addition to individual awards.
This year’s celebrities include:
- Stacey Achterhoff, aka Mrs. Delicious, Duluth Public School teacher for families in transition;
- Tommy Archer, race car driver, agent at Coldwell Banker;
- Leslie Gibbs, child protection social worker for St. Louis County;
- Ryan Haff, KBJR morning anchor;
- Annie Harala, business development and communications manager at Northland Constructors of Duluth;
- Michael Hillmeyer, pharmacist, Essentia Health;
- Diona Johnson, therapist, Human Development Center;
- Eduardo Sandoval Luna, owner of El Oasis del Norte;
- Diane Milinkovich, stylist, Fitger’s Salon & Spa;
- Jordy Sargent, ex-Googler/investor;
- Elly Siptroth, associate buyer, Maurices;
- Jessie Slater, KBJR evening anchor;
- Matt Wedin, firefighter, City of Duluth.
