Driver tries to flee police in Richardson, crashes into ice cream shop - The Dallas Morning News

A driver fleeing a traffic stop didn’t get too far when he crashed his SUV into an ice cream shop Thursday night in Richardson.

According to a Richardson police spokesman, an officer spotted a traffic violation around 11 p.m. and tried to pull the SUV over. Instead, it sped away and hit Tongue in Cheek Ice Cream in the 500 block of West Arapaho Road.

“They didn’t get very far,” Richardson police Sgt. Kevin Perlich said.

The driver, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant and also faces possession charges, and a passenger were treated for minor injuries.

The ice cream shop, which was closed for the night, did not appear to be damaged.
