It’s the stuff of Instagram dreams — and now it’s in Berkeley.

San Francisco-based Milkbomb Ice Cream has taken over the downtown University Avenue spot vacated by Ici Ice Cream, which closed its doors last November.

Open since Oct. 19, the shop is already seeing the kind of long lines common at its original location in Potrero Hill. People are queued up for a few dozen premium ice cream flavors — everything from Creamy Horchata and Good Morning Vietnam (Vietnamese coffee) to Mexican Mango Sorbet and Strawberry Haze — and housemade doughnuts and enough sauces and toppings to fill a small candy store.

Did we mention they stuff the still-warm doughnuts (cinnamon sugar is a fave) with two scoops of ice cream then drizzle and douse them with the fixings? Yeah, it’s called the Milkbomb Sandwich. If you’re not looking for 100 grams of sugar, you can get a single or double scoop on a sugar or waffle cone. They also do ice cream floats.

The shop is small and simple, with a bit of seating, but the concept is mainly intended for grab-and-go service. Milkbomb Ice Cream is located at 2079 University Ave., Berkeley. Find more information at www.facebook.com/milkbombicecream.
